Which poem?

The last lines of which English poem,
published in the early 1920s, are:

"Datta. Dayadhvam. Damyata.
Shantih. Shantih. Shantih."

TS Eliot...Waste Land

Happened to be a part of syllabus (only the last section)

And what's the answer if these words (d,d,d / not in the same order, though) were in the penultimate line?

Even here you can say it's so...but then shantih is more like a full stop :-)

correct ram!

damyata, datta and dayadvam, if i recall right, are part of maitreem bhajata - written by the earlier sankaracharya of kanchi, and sung by MS Subbulakshmi at the UN's 25th year celebrations.

I was about to write "Maithreem bhajatha" for your original post when Murali reminded me that it is an English poem.

guys. I have little inkling of what's going on here. But I guess I must persevere before some of the knowledge can seep in!
